Systems Engineering Specialist 3 (Facility Condition Assessment Specialist)Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute (http://psfei.psu.edu) is seeking a Facility Condition Assessment Specialist with experience in commercial building construction or inspections to conduct facility condition assessments throughout Pennsylvania and review building construction documents for regulatory and using agency compliance. The Institute provides facilities management and operations technical advice to Commonwealth of Pennsylvania agencies. The successful candidate will interact with skilled labor personnel, design professionals, and facility administrators, and will be expected to work with on-site client representatives, project teams, and leadership. Responsibilities include identifying and classifying building systems and components; estimating the size and capacity of building system components; estimating the remaining life of an asset; recognizing, categorizing, and quantifying asset deficiencies; gathering and understanding technical data to generate technical reports and narratives that are clear and concise. The position is typically based at the PSFEI State College, Pennsylvania office; alternate work arrangements may be considered. Extensive travel throughout PA is required (day and occasional overnight). The successful candidate will be expected to work outdoors in all weather conditions and have sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes to move around various facility types for assessment purposes. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with Microsoft Office 365 collaboration applications and using forms on mobile-based platforms is preferred. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. Security clearances required.
