Positions


1.Researcher (Recognition)


Researcher who can create innovative value for customers all over the world via research and development of new technologies in media processing and/or related fields. Current research focuses are listed below.
- Pattern Recognition, Machine Learning (i.e. deep learning, transfer learning)
- Video, Image and Voice Processing/Recognition
- Human Sensing & Understanding
- Optical Sensing (i.e. fiber, free space)



2.Researcher (Security)


'Research and development to create values for customers all over the world through advanced security technologies. Current research focuses include:
- Data security: cryptography such as light-weight cryptography for IoT and post-quantum cryptography, applied cryptography to secure digital identity, preserve privacy, and build trust, such as secure multi-party computation, blockchain, and privacy-preserving machine learning
- System security: security intelligence, security operations and management, IOT/ICS security, and network securiy
- AI security: attacks to compromise integrity of AI systems and defense measures against such attacks



3.Researcher (Computing System)


Computing System Technology (optimization software for high performance computing systems or embedded computing systems with vector processors, GPUs, many-core processors, ASICs and FPGAs): Parallelization, vectorization and FPGA design technologies: These technologies will be applied to media and image processing, big data analytics, machine learning, deep learning, biometrics processing, etc. And those will be prototyped as frameworkes, libraries, compiler assist tools, scheduling middleware, etc.



4.Researcher (ICT Platform)


Researcher on IT and network system management technologies, which include automation of system designing, workflow planning and validation for future style of system management.
You will be working on one of the following subjects: (a) the application of machine learning to evaluate system configurations even the configurations are not fully concretized, (b) developping automated system validation mechanism for variaty of system configurations which are automatically generated during reinforcement learning process for system design automation, or (c) automated creation of knowledges for system designing with utililzing machine learning technologies.
You are expected to collaborate with other team members to the creation of innovative technologies, which may be used in future system management, to their academic publication (peer reviewed journals or conferences) and to their patenting.



5.Researcher (Robotics)


'Researcher on robotics technologies which include state estimation, environment recognition, system identification and motion planning and control. Our robotics research is based on Cloud robotics, and the research target is networked robot system which is integrated sensors, robots, cloud computing and network.
You will be working on one of the following subjects: (a) Precise and safe motion control in unstable and crowded environment, (b). Easy installation of networked robot system, and (c) Collaboration of multiple robots and humans.
You are expected to collaborate with other team members, business divisions and customers to the creation of innovative technologies, which may be used in future robot system and services, to their academic publication (peer reviewed journals or conferences) and to their patenting.



6.Researcher (Communication Systems_wireless)


'Researcher on wireless communication for post-5G and 6G systems.
You will be working on on physical layer technologies and latest digital signal processing techniques, including the application of machine learning in order to enhance the performance of impairment compensation, of demodulation process.
You are expected to collaborate with other team members, business divisions and customers to the creation of innovative technologies, which will be used in future communication systems. You will have opportunies for patenting and submitting your research results to flagship conferences and peer reviewed journals.



7.Researcher (Communication Systems_optical)


Researcher on optical communication for terrestrial systems and submarine cable systems.
You will be working on on physical layer technologies, high capacity long haul optical transmission technology using space division multiplexing or related advanced signal processing schemes, including the application of machine learning to optical signal modulation and demodulation.
You are expected to collaborate with other team members, business divisions and customers to the creation of innovative technologies, which will be used in future communication systems. You will have opportunies for patenting and submitting your research results to flagship conferences and peer reviewed journals.



8.Researcher (Data analysis)


The candidate for this position is expected to develop new cutting-edge data analysis technologies as well as to create new solutions through proof-of-concept(PoC) trials with partners. The candidate must have strong passion to change the world as well as technical expertise. The candidate must be able to carry out original research, prototyping and testing software, executing PoC projects by proactively communicating with the team, relevant business units and customers. The candidate is encouraged to publish papers in tier-1 premier conferences.

- Reinforcement learning
- Knowledge extraction and acquisition



Career path


You will start as research staff, working in an international team with a majority of Japanese researchers. Future promotion towards assistant manager position and subsequent specialization towards technical expert position or towards manager position is possible based on achievements, experience and skills, based on equal opportunity.

Salary review: Conducted once a year. The salary remains the same as long as you stay at the same technology level.
Set-up Allowance: JPY 255,000
Bonus: Once a year. The actual amount is determined by the performance and achievement. JPY420,000-2,100,000 (bachelor), JYP560,000-2,800,000 (master), JPY700,000-3,500,000 (doctor)
