We are looking for an Analytics and Insights Director to manage a team of data scientists and analysts for eBay Search. You will be part of the Global Analytics Community. Your charter will be to empower Search Science and Experience product org with data insights to shape their roadmaps and guide their execution. You will be a critical partner for the Search and Buyer Experience leaders. You will have the unique opportunity to influence decision making for roadmaps and product launches, envision cutting edge experimental design, and conduct data science projects to find opportunities to improve customers search experience on eBay. You will have the great balance to lead and manage a team and roll your sleeves up.

You will lead the team to mine the largest datasets in the world of e-Commerce and use best in class analytics and modeling techniques to find opportunities to improve search algorithms, models, and search experience. Youll engage in planning and goal setting, design metrics, provide measurement, and deliver critical insights that improves solutions and decisions. You will manage, recruit, inspire, and develop a robust and talented team of data scientists and analysts.

The right candidate will need to be business and analytically savvy, as well as demonstrate the leadership quality to take the Analytics Team to the next level. This role is customer-focused at its core, while being deeply rooted in relevant insights developed from data. They will need to have strong knowledge of analytics, modeling, experiments, business intelligence, and tools for extracting and manipulating data at-scale, as well as a deep understanding of how customer-centric analytics can optimally drive global business decisions.

To be Successful on the Role:

  • At least 10 years of industry experience in analytics, statistical modeling. Experience in Search Science and Experience or eCommerce is required

  • Deep understanding of machine learning methods and evaluation methods. Masters or PhD of a science (e.g. mathematics, physics, engineering, statistics, data science) is preferred.

  • Proficient in SQL, R, Python, Tableau, Hadoop, Spark.

  • Experience with site experimentation (A/B testing), econometrics, or causal inference

  • You have vast experience working with product analytics

  • Capable of collaborating with leaders and all levels of product partners, as well as other analytics teams and other domains and functions of eBay

  • Effective communication, able to distill quantitative and complicated findings to clear stories

  • Experience in leading data science teams

  • Big picture thinking, Intellectual curiosity, passion for problem-solving, and comfort with ambiguity.
